The autocomplete in Sublime Text code editor has gotten crazy good. Better than LLM prediction IMO.

I'm burned out on sentences that start like: "In full transparency ..." "We need an LoE for ..." "Let's circle back to ..." It's human generated meeting slop.

@kixxauth What will you miss about the take home problems? What signal did they uniquely produce?

We're not going to do take home problems in our hiring process anymore, so I need to find something that fits that role during the interview. But, I despise coding tests. I need something that's fun and breaks the ice and allows a person to showcase their best selves.

the irony of Elon being 100% correct about falling birthrates being a dire problem and the *absolute worst possible messenger* for this specific problem

@PeterOlivier They have no real sustaining values Peter - only what suits gaining and maintaining power in a given moment. Words don't have meaning for them, they're only tools.

The right's love of authoritarianism and nationalism reveals a lack of commitment to free markets, as authoritarian regimes uniformly oppose free markets.

It's so important to love where you live. When your environment emotionally nourishes you, you become impervious to the threat of mindless consumerism Big Marketing Funnel preys on boredom. Of course you're going to doom scroll when your surroundings don't inspire you. Of course you're going to buy useless shit when all you see is grey in every direction. Of course you're going to be convinced that you need something when little can convince you that you don't Figure out what makes you personally come alive. Oceans and trees save a lot of people. Walkable streets and strong communities do too. Whatever it is for you, it's natural medicine for the soul in the form of energy Allow the outside world to quiet your mind while the virtual world tries to fill it with noise. Problems can only exist if you're able to be convinced. Curate your reality such that effortless presence becomes the more persuasive salesman

It infuriates me that so much of the web created by big tech companies (including my own) is really just piles of wildly over-complicated JavaScript/TS like this Google developer docs page, which should just be a simple HTML page: #httprest_1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">developers.google.com/identity/proto…

the new twitter algorithm (like all social media platforms) prioritizes hyper-virality. This spikes the gini-coefficient within the attention economy and destroys the middle class, and consequently, the community there, I did it, my least intelligible tweet

@LifeOfPhat @lennysan Well, I think everyone at a firm is doing something - but the profile of that work is pretty different. Early career folks I find, in technology but also more broadly, focus on projects, outputs, easy to measure stuff. As folks grow more senior, it gets harder to count.

@saouderkirk Right? Seems sad. Like, it wouldn't be hard for them to do something so much better: "Hey Simon! Based on your text history, your friend Pete likes to lift heavy. Send him a text and I bet he'll help you out! Here is a draft! "Hey Pete - I want to get yoked. Can you train me up?"
