Exactly 43 years ago, 13,000 air traffic controllers walked out in a historic strike. President Reagan fired the striking controllers & put America's labor unions on the defensive Reagan's moves unfortunately encouraged Corporate America to go on the offensive against unions

43 years ago, on August 3, 1981, nearly 13,000 air traffic controllers, members of the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO), walked out after contract talks with the Federal Aviation Administration collapsed.

This Day in Labor History: May 19, 1920. The Matewan Massacre took place in the small town of Matewan, West Virginia. This key event in the coal wars later became famous because of the excellent John Sayles movie. Let's talk about the real story!

Often chasing the moon I'd look for angles that had the Key Bridge. A hard get because access to shoreline/moonrise position. One night sweet Luna appeared. Full Harvest Moon Oct. 2022. I can't believe the bridge is gone now. Praying for those who may be lost or looking for them

Over a century later, an immigrant garment worker in LA who I interviewed for my book told me about how her bosses lock the doors of the factory where she and her coworkers are paid by the piece.
U.S. Department of Labor@USDOL

On March 25, 1911, the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire killed 146 workers and injured dozens more. While trying to escape the fire, the workers (most of whom were immigrant women) encountered locked doors and broken fire escapes.
