The Cubs told Venezuela that Daniel Palencia could only pitch in a save situation. There were other pitchers Venezuela didn’t have at their disposal because their MLB teams said they were unavailable. As much fun and as exciting as the WBC was this is exactly why it’ll always be a flawed tournament.

I got this amazing piece from @jaff96art featuring a new character just for this role. I call her Regina Orejas Largas. 2023 is when my kid first got interested in baseball. The first major league game we watched together was team Mexico play Puerto Rico in the WBC.
