@ThelVanDamne @Drexsin_ @RealGrizzled 1. this proves they didnt really hire bungie devs which you said they did. 2. it proves they wanted to "reinvent" the franchise lol chasing trends & didnt want previous bungie devs to speak against those ideas whether franks statement was in jest or not 😭

@sappily8 @Drexsin_ @RealGrizzled Obtuse? Paul Russel cleared this shit up years ago and you people still believe nonsense. This is why nobody wants to make halo games. You fucks are stupid as hell. Did Paul say anything about hiring people that hated halo? NO.

Halo 5 isn’t a Titanfall/COD clone Halo never followed trends Halo 5 remembered where it comes from. The OG’s arena shooter, but mixed with Halo’s foundation. Pick up weapons/Power ups Vehicles Deep mechanical movement Effective weapons in their roles. One of one. The #GHOAT

@Drexsin_ @RealGrizzled Because you misquoted him. Again. Answer the question. If they hired people that hated halo, why would they hire bungie devs

@ThelVanDamne @xCxKxWx215 and that just further proves how slop halo 4 is if it was chasing the cod trend, when cod absorbs everything from other fps games like the slop it also is

@sappily8 @xCxKxWx215 COD DID THE SAME THING. That’s isn’t chasing trends. That’s recognizing a mechanics that could do well with your game.

@ThelVanDamne @xCxKxWx215 its almost like when you take 100 features from your direct competitor in the same genre of game its chasing the trend. who woulda thought? versus taking a single feature as inspiration from a completely different genre of game.

@sappily8 @xCxKxWx215 Tekken made killcams and cod took it. So again, how is that chasing trends. By that logic, halo 2 was chasing trends of gta when they added vehicle boarding.

@ThelVanDamne @xCxKxWx215 because halo 4 quite literally chased trends with the mechanics it added during the time period and literally referencing it after the game series it wanted to be more similar to. 343 hiring devs who didnt like traditional halo. 343 wanting a broader audience. they wanted cod $$

@sappily8 @xCxKxWx215 Correct so why is this even an argument when halo’s gameplay has fundamentally changed since 2? This isn’t an argument on whether people like it or not

@ThelVanDamne @xCxKxWx215 every mechanic added, fundamentally changes how something was problem solved in a previous entry. whether someone likes it or not is fine idc. someone can enjoy it, but it does fundamentally change the gameplay.

@ThelVanDamne @xCxKxWx215 adding more mechanics doesnt always = extra layer. sometimes additional mechanics take away layers of skill expression. if you get a hitmarker from a nade behind a rock, now you know someone is there & will push. game gave you information you wouldn have known unless you saw them

@ThelVanDamne @xCxKxWx215 how? its a one time use pickup, that you fight map control for? you can choose to shoot/nade/equipment at any point while still moving at max speed in any direction?

@ThelVanDamne @xCxKxWx215 inspiration vs copying/chasing trends. maze war and spasim are some of the first fps games ever to exist. just because new fps games exist, doesnt mean they chased the maze war trend. they took inspiration from other games to make their own fps games. halo changed its core mechs

@sappily8 @xCxKxWx215 So you’re being selective on what’s chasing trends and what isn’t. You’re special pleading.

@sappily8 @xCxKxWx215 False. Halo has always remained halo at its core since the beginning.

@ThelVanDamne @xCxKxWx215 diablo being a dungeon crawler & the inspiration for phantasy star online doesnt make pso chasing the diablo trend. they took inspiration from the genre and made their own game. just like halo ce was. halo 4 deviated.

@ThelVanDamne @xCxKxWx215 if anything halo ce took inspiration from those games to make a rounded game. the following games followed similar path when it came to base movement/mechanics, rather than chasing trends like 343 did with halo 4 imo.

@ThelVanDamne @xCxKxWx215 off topic but both those games are fire 🔥 i wouldnt consider bungie chasing trends for taking a single feature from another series. its the context behind changing your established series to play more like another game with blatant references. a single control scheme aint chasin

@sappily8 @xCxKxWx215 Alien resurrection was the first game to have duel analog sticks for moving and looking on console Rainbow six one was the first game to incorporate dedicated buttons for weapons and grenades for CE. Were bungie following trends back then?

@ThelVanDamne @xCxKxWx215 point to another popular game series of the time, preferably within the same genre as halo, that had vehicle boarding, and maybe we could make that argument.

@ThelVanDamne @xCxKxWx215 some people liked the jetpacky cod era, others didnt. while it was still a cod game, it was divisive to the community at large. just like current halos etc.

@ThelVanDamne @xCxKxWx215 you dont know my views, im only arguing the point that halo 4 chased trends, that's how this comment thread started. i do think CE and 2 are very different, HOWEVER the base mechanics were pretty much intact. its like cod 4 vs cod advanced warfare. grounded vs jetpacks etc.
