The Ford government can’t find room in the budget for an urgently needed new hospital in Kingston, which would provide essential care for 5 ridings. But if @fordnation wants a private jet, a luxury spa, or ads to boost his image, the money is always there. This government's priorities just don't add up. #onpoli

Doug Ford’s new shady retroactive changes to FOI laws would let him and his cabinet dodge transparency and accountability. I have to ask the question… What is the Premier hiding on his cellphone? Ontarians deserve accountability. #onpoli cbc.ca/news/canada/to…

An Ontario court has ruled that Premier Doug Ford must release logs of government-related calls made on his personal phone, affirming that such records are subject to freedom of information laws. As far as I’m concerned, @fordnation not handing over his cell phone records is breaking the law and he should be arrested immediately. Changing important laws like the freedom of information act should be illegal and henceforth not possible. Governments have to be transparent and accountable at all times. Without checks and balances governments can do whatever they damn well please without fear of legal repercussions. Making any changes retroactive shouldn’t even be allowed to begin with. Bypassing public hearings on any important legislation should also be illegal. #DougFord and everyone else involved in his corrupt activities need to be held accountable. #onpoli #Ontario #Canada #FOI

All aboard the gravy plane! ✈️💸 Not enough money for OSAP, public education, health care, or real affordability measures in Ontario. But a $29 million private jet purchase for Premier Ford? No problem! So much for fiscal responsibility. #onpoli thestar.com/politics/provi…

8 years and 5 education ministers later, the Ford government has left us with larger class sizes, rising mental health challenges, fewer supports, & worsening classrooms. We should be supporting students, but instead, this government is focused on power & control.

@RichardCityNews @1StarAtaTyme Yup needs to go back. First off…he’s the premier of Ontario. He doesn’t need it. Second how often will it be used? Third that money could hire EAs to be with kids EVERYDAY who need extra support. Plus elementary schools could have 1.0 Guidance teachers to support SEL and MH.

Here's a look at the interior of a 2016 Challenger 650. Premier Doug Ford's government spent $28.5 million of taxpayer dollars on the private jet now dubbed the "gravy plane" #onpoli

So now Doug Ford wants to make attendance up to 15% of a student’s grade? Here’s the reality absenteeism isn’t the problem. It’s a symptom. Mental health struggles. Family pressures. Disengagement. You don’t fix that by punishing kids. You fix it by understanding it. Doug Ford needs to stay out of education he clearly doesn’t understand it. Maybe try listening to actual teachers and educators in Ontario instead of bringing in outside consultants who don’t live this system every day.

Very confusing hearing the Education Minister suggest in an interview that trustees have had a hand in curriculum. For clarity: no. The Ministry has full responsibility of the curriculum, and the current government has been in power since 2018. So odd. #onted #onpoli

I called out the Minister of Education on how this conservative government has created a crisis of their own making over the last 8 years in public education. They want to talk tough about imposing police in schools. As if putting kids in handcuffs is going to fix the underfunding of our schools. This government needs to build trust with Black communities, not erode it. It’s clear that they don’t want to collect school climate data about safety in schools or on student well-being, because the data will show how this government is failing. Premier Ford is making our schools less safe for students and people working in our schools.

Education is not a business. Schools are not factories. Our children are not widgets to be churned out. Do better, @fordnation. #OntEd

A female journalist challenges Doug Ford. Asks tough questions. Does her job. And then she’s gone. We don’t have all the details yet. But when reporting holds political leaders accountable, and the fallout lands on the journalist instead of the people in power… people are going to ask questions. Because this isn’t happening in a vacuum. Women in journalism are already: Targeted more. Doubted more. Attacked more. So when one of them disappears right as things get uncomfortable you don’t get to tell the public not to question it. No one is above scrutiny. Not journalists. And not politicians either. If everything is above board, transparency shouldn’t be a problem. @CityNewsTO @fordnation

This saddens me. @TinaYazdani is one of my favourite journalists. She has been such a wonderful source of news during a troubling time, holding elected officials to account and ensuring that we have accurate information, not just regurgitated press releases.
