@FlatlandHops wind is the worst at this time of year, hope the trellis holds up and a few plants only come down.

@EarthstrongCAN @_StaySharpe Sharpe's has hooked us up with Fleksy and MoNi for improving flowering and cone set in our hops. Will be applying this weekend when putting on fungicide.

@Joe_Widdup I’ve had to order all my stuff online from various sites, out of stock whether it’s their website or 3rd party is a common frustration for me. System is easy to learn to use tho

@Redwards40 We use hemp mats with a slit in them around newly planted trees. does a decent job on weeds and holds moisture.

Beautiful day for spreading fertilizer, hops are in the fastest part of vertical growth.

@Redwards40 Most RMs have pull type tree planters they let you use. Likely need to run a cultivator shovel or two ahead to make sure planter moves dirt ok. We ran a tiller with outside shanks off so it just did about 12” wide of black dirt to go into.

So I have this piece of pasture on our home 1/4 that's too rough and small to farm and was thinking of turning it back to bush. Anyone got any ideas how to get poplar started without hand planting a few thousand trees.

Did you know: A lot of vegetable seeds come in a pelleted form. Why? Mostly so that they can be easily mechanically planted. Also, easier to handle if you hand seed them. Here's a pelleted and not pelleted lettuce seed

@GraemeNichols Very cool. Is there a limit of coaches on an nhl bench during game? If so does it mean they don’t have a full complement all the time or someone isn’t able to be on bench for games?

Daniel Alfredsson will be on the Senators bench for a game for the first time since May 24, 2013. Including today, that is 3829 days or 10 years, 5 months and 24 days.

@smarchibald I did a PTO generator because it's simple. We had several winter outages, one was 24 hours without heat and water pressure. Once you buy one, you won't need it though. Haven't had an outage in 2 years. Generac would be nice but I'm told I would need 2, 1 for shop, 1 for house.

Looking at standby generators for the house to keep the lights and heat on if need be… what’s the best? Propane generac? Diesel standby on a trailer? Pto on the tractor?

@saskhops @de_bfc I have a front mount on a tractor already. It works well, but can be a bit time consuming in large areas, especially if the wind isn’t in your favour. Have two bin yards to maintain.

Expanded my farmyard, and looking to up my game on snow removal. Looking at going with a loader and snow push from @de_bfc. Just curious on everyone’s thoughts for brand of loader (John D, cat, Volvo …). Looking at 544/L70/928 size. $30-50k budget on loader (I’m usually over)
