(cont.) "The Homosexual Cardinal Fernández: Imagine the Devil as Head of Catholic Doctrine The Scandal of Cardinal Fernández’ Sex Books One of the most disturbing aspects surrounding Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández is not only the theological confusion associated with his career, but also the existence of books and writings centered on sexuality in a manner that many faithful Catholics consider deeply incompatible with the dignity expected from a Catholic priest, let alone from the Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith. For generations, Catholics looked to the former Holy Office, today called the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, as the guardian of Catholic truth, morality, and doctrinal clarity. Saints, theologians, and great defenders of orthodoxy understood that the task demanded gravity, prudence, purity of doctrine, and spiritual seriousness. Yet today, many Catholics look at Cardinal Fernández and see the exact opposite: ambiguity, sensualized language, doctrinal confusion, and an obsession with themes that seem profoundly out of place for a prince of the Catholic Church. Francis chose him for this position; imagine how evil that devil was! The scandal does not come merely from the existence of discussions about human sexuality. The Catholic Church has always taught about sexuality, marriage, purity, and sin. Saints such as St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Alphonsus Liguori, and countless moral theologians dealt with these matters when necessary, but always with sobriety, modesty, and the clear intention of leading souls toward holiness and self-mastery. The problem with Fernández’ writings is that many Catholics perceive in them a tone and approach that appear worldly, sensualized, psychologically modernist, and detached from the traditional Catholic understanding of asceticism and Christian purity. Instead of elevating the soul above passions, the language seems to normalize or romanticize emotional and bodily impulses in a manner foreign to the spiritual tradition of the Catholic Church. This becomes even more alarming because Fernández was elevated by Francis to lead the very dicastery responsible for safeguarding Catholic doctrine. The contradiction strikes many faithful Catholics as staggering. A man associated with controversial writings on sexuality now occupies the office once held by figures whose mission was to combat doctrinal errors and moral corruption. The issue is therefore not merely personal taste or literary style. It touches the credibility of the Church’s leadership itself. How can the faithful trust doctrinal guardians who appear fascinated by themes that previous generations of clergy would have approached with extreme caution and reserve? How can parents teach purity, modesty, and moral discipline to their children while some of the highest-ranking men in the Catholic Church produce writings that are spiritually dangerous? The scandal becomes even greater in the broader context of the moral collapse that has devastated the Catholic Church. At a time when Catholics have endured decades of abuse scandals, homosexual networks within ecclesiastical structures, doctrinal confusion, and open rebellion against Catholic morality, the promotion of figures like Fernández is a sign that the crisis is not being corrected, but institutionalized with Leo XIV’s help. Traditional Catholic spirituality has always emphasized custody of the senses, purity of heart, discipline of imagination, and detachment from lustful curiosities. The saints warned repeatedly that impurity clouds the intellect, weakens the will, and distances the soul from God. Catholic moral theology never treated sensuality lightly because it understood the destructive power of disordered passions over human beings. That is why many faithful Catholics feel profound discomfort seeing the Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith associated with 🧵1/2

JUST IN: SSPX Superior General Fr. Davide Pagliarani addresses Declaration of Catholic Faith to Pope Leo XIV. sspx.org/en/news/declar… It comes one day after the Vatican’s doctrinal office formally reiterated that proceeding with episcopal consecrations on July 1 will constitute an “act of schism.” The Declaration reads: Most Holy Father, For more than fifty years, the Society of Saint Pius X has endeavored to set before the Holy See a matter of conscience in the face of the errors that are destroying Catholic faith and morals. Regrettably, all the discussions entered into have remained without result, and none of the concerns expressed have received any truly satisfactory response. For more than fifty years, the only solution truly considered by the Holy See has appeared to be that of canonical sanctions. To our great regret, it seems to us that canon law is thus being used, not to confirm in the Faith, but to lead away from it. In the text that follows, the Society of Saint Pius X is glad to express to You, filially and sincerely, its devotion to the Catholic Faith, concealing nothing, either from Your Holiness or from the Universal Church. The Society places this simple Declaration of Faith in Your hands. It seems to us to correspond to the minimum indispensable to be in communion with the Church, and to truly call ourselves Catholics and, consequently, your sons. We have no other desire than that of living and being confirmed in the Roman Catholic Faith. Read full declaration of the Catholic Faith here: sspx.org/en/news/declar…
