@NealGardner_ Last season the CB's often got involved in build up play and provided many vertical passes, with Inigo directing things from the back. This season that has decreased because there is no clear leader in defense

I think we’ve generally been less direct/vertical this season, and a lot of it comes down to how many games Raphinha’s missed. People talk about us underperforming in certain big games, and I pinpoint that as a major factor - not being able to carve sides open with two-three passes, at most. So yes, when I say Raphinha as one of our most important players, there’s so much to it. He’s such an enabler, almost personifies everything Flick-ball is about.

I think it’s straightforward. The expectations are very different. Lamine’s now held to the same standards you’d associate with the best in the world. Every “average” game is a headline. Every great game is simply the norm. It’s also an explosiveness thing. Pubalgia is notoriously for slowing players down. It happened with Messi too, and currently with the likes of Nico. Thing with Lamine is, he’s so good that he still manages to produce, but it’s evident that things aren’t fully right.
