A British Airways 747 is getting ready for probably the shortest 747 flight ever - just 4 miles / 6 km from Cardiff to St. Athan flightradar24.com/BAW9172/22f787…

@flightradar24 4 miles as the crow flies must be the shortest jumbo flight ever, but years ago there was a regular scheduled 747 Sabena flight from FIH (Kinshasa) across the River Congo to BZV (Brazzaville) & back. (16 miles) Must be one of the shortest scheduled 747 flights ever.

Cardiff is a maintenance base for British Airways and St. Athan is the base of an aircraft scrapping company. This 9 minute flight was probably the shortest and but also the final flight for 24 years old G-CIVG.
