Parksville Boat Ramp at Thurmond Lake temporarily closed for paving repairs. The J. Strom Thurmond Dam and Lake Project Office will temporarily close the Parksville Boat Ramp in McCormick County, South Carolina, Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026. The ramp should reopen by Feb. 12, 2026.

The three upper Savannah River Basin reservoirs operated by the Savannah District, declared a second flow reduction in response to the pool elevation at Lake Thurmond dipping below Drought Trigger Level 2, Sunday, Jan. 24, 2026.

We are ready to assist before, during, and after disasters strike, when called upon. Currently we have deployed five planning and response teams, contractors and Soldiers from 249th Engineering Battalion Prime Power to various locations for the ongoing winter storm.

The Savannah District has reopened reservations for Hawe Creek and Modoc Campgrounds at J. Strom Thurmond Dam and Lake for the 2026 season, which is March 27 through Sept. 13. To make a reservation visit: recreation.gov

Thurmond Lake Debris Removal Complete! The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, has completed its Hurricane Helene debris removal operations, removing 242,645.5 cubic yards of downed timber and debris from J. Strom Thurmond Dam and Lake recreation areas.

Officials from the Savannah District and Fort Bragg, broke ground on a new 37,300 square foot Child Development Center on the installation, Sept. 12, 2025. The new state-art-of-the art facility will provide expanded on post childcare options for Soldiers and families.

As Hurricane Erin gains approaches the U.S. Virgin Islands, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers temporary emergency power team has pre-positioned FEMA generators at a staging yard in St. Thomas, to provide emergency electrical power generation, if needed, to critical facilities.
