With recent rainfall, this has resulted in the contamination of local waterways. The Savannah Riverkeeper is advising all individuals to thoroughly wash their hands and any exposed skin after coming into contact with the affected waterways.

Thanks to the vigilance of a concerned citizen, we have been made aware of one of the ongoing consequences of Hurricane Helene. The storm caused significant damage to thousands of sewer lines, leading to sewage spills throughout the Savannah River basin.

As you probably have noticed, the #Savannahriver Basin hasn’t gotten any rain since #HurricaneHelene . While this can help with cleanup and recovery efforts, a lack of rain can have major ramifications on our waterways.
