So we've fulfilled our obligations regardless. One can't be held liable for promises they never made.

No. Trump just failed big time and she was a lousy candidate ... all the democrats needed to do is produce a decent candidate and Trump would never have won. As to respect for the USA, it has been losing that, way before Trump and I hope it will get back on its feet.
