POTD 🏦 𝗔𝗧𝗣 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗰𝗵 🇲🇦 (3U) Moutet -3.5 @ 1.80 / -125 Wager Placed on @Duelbits Hit 𝗟𝗜𝗞𝗘 if you’re tailing! 🍀 It’s very rare I will tell you I see value in a favourite to cover the game spread but in this instance I do see the vision. Let’s start off with Marco Trungelliti, he has made headlines over the last few days becoming one of the oldest men to crack the top 100 in 50 years and I also told you he was a live underdog against Majchrzak and we cashed in on that. You’re probably going to say “Trungelliti is playing great tennis and is motivated, this looks risky” but I just want you to hear me out. Marco Trungelliti is 36 years old and has spent over 7 hours on the courts so far, he is also a grinder/counter-puncher and guess who else plays this style of tennis? Corentin Moutet. Also, now that he has cracked the top 100 I think motivation is not going to be as high as it was beforehand if you get what I mean. He completed the task everyone was watching out for, realistically he has heavily overachieved and a title is out of the picture for him in my opinion. Then we have to also factor in that Majchrzak isn’t that good and to be brutally honest he completely gifted Trungeliti the match with errors and weak preparation for the clay swing, which makes sense as he did overachieve on hard courts. Corentin Moutet is one of the most creative players on tour, he frustrates his opponents, gives them no rhythm, uses his variety of shot selection amazingly and is the way more proven counter puncher and the truth is Trungelliti hasn’t faced a player of this calibre yet. Moutet is a lefty and loves the backhand slices, he loves using drop shots to draw opponents in and following it up with pin point lobs, he can change the pace on balls and is spin friendly. Moutet has had to work so hard on his game because of his weaker serve but when it comes to rally tolerance there is not many better and that is why I think this is a easy matchup for him. Trungelliti is basically a lower level counter puncher than Moutet with a-lot more time on court and the simple fact of this matchup is Trungelliti needs his opponents to give him errors to win and Moutet is not going to give him that. Marco’s grinding style works well against predicable players but when an unpredictable mad man like Moutet gets in there with him it’s going to crumble. I always end my write ups with possibilities of how the bet could lose but in this case, apart from saying Trungelliti has got used to the conditions in Africa there is nothing else that favours him, Moutet would have to be match fixing or injured to lose this in my opinion.
