Drove from Lahore to Islamabad via Sialkot. First taste of adventure as we entered the motorway — a flat tire! Despite learning how to change flat tire, have never done it — due to such unsolicited kindness of fellow male drivers or pedestrians near the road. Pakistani male attitudes towards women are contradictory. Catcalling, staring are a norm —every Pakistani female has encounters to share, but these same men are also the first to really help women in distress in public spaces. My daughter was accompanying me and got a taste of this kindness and watched in amazement — a complete stranger changing our car’s flat tire and adamantly refusing remuneration in return 😅.
