@dstaples He could have said everything he did with the same message without stating Tampa was coached well. Coupled by Leon’s direct comments before the break, Connor’s comments after game 7, the Oilers significantly recessed play this season, all lines trisect to a room issue I fear.

McDavid's comments are a Rorschach test for Oilers fans. If your position is that Knoblauch should be fired, that's what you are certain McDavid says here. If your position is far less certain regarding Knoblauch, you see McDavid giving a basic answer to a basic question about the Tampa Bay Lightning.

@EdmOilerlytics I am also of the opinion that he didn't want the spectacle of the team hiring his junior coach, I'm pretty sure he hates the narrative that everything on the team is for him. He just wants to be one of the guys, but management walks on eggshells

For the “Mcdavid hired Knoblauch” crowd. I don’t think he wanted Woodcroft fired: "He never lost the room, I didn't think. He never lost the room." "loved playing for Woody”, calling him "unbelievable coach" who would be back in the NHL quickly.

@dstaples It came about 34 years ago. It wrapped up the series well. as the series unexpectedly did not get renewed so the movie (demanded by the fans) tied up the loose ends. It’s available on streaming platforms ie crave.

@dstaples I’ve watched over and over. I just don’t see the contact by Nurse’s head changing MacKinnon’s path. Contact with Ingram was going to be made.

It is near impossible to gauge intent when it comes to such a play. What is safe to say is that MacKinnon's line of attack was reckless, that he made a dangerous charge at net, which makes his punishment fitting. Glad that didn't bitch about it, unlike his coach.
