I think the most effective teachers love students. I think the most effective principals love teachers. (This was an important thing for me to learn as a young administrator.)

Best retention plan for keeping great teachers? Treat them like they are the best. Few teachers leave an environment where they feel valued, supported, appreciated, and treated like professionals.
