One of the most common questions I get in candidate interviews is: "Why'd you decide to keep building at Cognition post-Windsurf acquisition?" The answer is simple: Cognition is packed with incredible operators who challenge me every day. Former founders, cracked engineers, top sales reps and leaders. Every corner of the business is stacked with impressive people. Surrounding yourself with people who push you every day is one of the many joys of working here. It's not for everyone. But if that's what you're looking for, my DMs are open. We're hiring more A players.

I was determined after never having worked at a company for more than a year - to find a sick place to work. @calvingiroud whose judgement is the best out of anyone I know, had joined a few months before, and told me to chat. I entered the famed cog house at 12pm and left at 9. Kept thinking about everyone I met after I got home and how fun it would be to work with them. Turned out to be true! Work that by all rights should take months is done in hours by our engineering and sales teams, because we’re like the Yankees - if everyone was Ty Cobb. Everyone bats .350 here - join our squad

Introducing SWE-1.7, the most capable model we’ve trained yet. It scores within a few points of the strongest frontier models at a fraction of the cost, and is now available at 1000 tok/s. RL is not hitting its limit: after refining our recipe, we keep seeing gains as we scale

I'm excited to share that I've joined Cognition as a Member of Design Staff. There comes a time when your origin saga concludes, and you step into your Avengers: Endgame moment. That's exactly how this feels. I am enthralled by the opportunity to help shape the future of AI software engineering. It's hard to contain the sheer excitement and the endless stream of ideas. I'm incredibly grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work alongside a world-class team of incredibly talented people. It's a privilege to contribute to a mission that's both ambitious and deeply impactful. A huge thank you to everyone who supported me and cheered me on throughout this journey. Every conversation, word of encouragement, and vote of confidence helped me get here. I'm especially grateful to my new teammates for the warm welcome. I can't wait to learn, build, and eventually show you all what we've been working on. Here's to this new chapter. 🚀 #newjob

Excited to share Devin Fusion, the first major launch I worked on at Cognition! Fusion achieves 35% cost savings by pairing frontier models with a lower-cost sidekick, while maintaining frontier-level coding performance. One thing I found especially interesting was how differently frontier models work with the same sidekick. Fable, for example, was much less of a micromanager than Opus or GPT 5.5. It also scoped the sidekick’s work better and did a better job reviewing its code.

Conventional model routing sucks. It passes benchmarks but fails to write code you'd actually merge. Introducing Devin Fusion, a new hybrid-model harness for agentic coding. In testing, it reduces the cost of Fable-level intelligence by 35% and still feels good to use.
