@randall_ch88229 People forget how huge The Who was from 1969 when Tommy came out, thru 1974. Especially after the Beatles stopped touring and then broke up. They were extremely visible and influential at that time

@randall_ch88229 Townshend’s use of the SG was very visible thru hundreds of live gigs. He was widely photographed playing it, and filmed for millions to see — Woodstock, Isle of Wight, etc. Gibson eventually put out a Townshend signature model.

It was Pete Townshend who popularized the SG, not Angus Young, for Chrissakes!

@paleblueeyes69 Without The Who, there’d be no AC/DC or any other hard rock and heavy metal. It all started when Townshend collaborated with Jim Marshall to invent the Marshall stack in 1965. It was the first amp and cabinets to achieve the necessary volume, distortion and feedback.

@schizoidman for people growing up in the late 70s and early 80s, Angus was definitely more influential than The Who was though.

@Bulldogs_96 @01HockeyMan01 I agree they won’t get a team, but I think the idea that they would bring “absolutely nothing to the NHL revenue-wise” is wrong. Canadian teams make up a little more than 20% of the league but generate more than a 3rd of its revenue.

@01HockeyMan01 Not a chance. They bring absolutely nothing to the NHL revenue wise. It’s a dream, and a wild one at that. NHL expansion is coming but it’ll be some sort of combination of Atlanta, Houston, Phoenix with the later being a long shot.

@01HockeyMan01 QC is never coming back to the NHL, sad to say. Even though Cdn teams punch well above their numbers in terms of league revenue generation, they do nothing to enhance its U.S. TV footprint. U.S. team owners and the league office see no advantage in expanding in Canada.

I find the whole hockey “code” thing ridiculous. I don’t respect either player for staging a fake fight that solves absolutely nothing. Fighting should be banned. Players who do what Gudas did to Matthews should face much tougher suspensions.
