Yesterday, Antarctic sea ice extent hit a new record statistical low of -6.65σ below the 1991-2020 mean. About a 1-in-70B chance w/o climate change. This is not a graph of extent or anomaly. It is a graph of standard deviations -- a measure of how abnormal the year's data is.

This year in my community college biology class, I'm trying a sticker chart! I want to incentivize & celebrate certain behaviors 🥳 without including them in the grade. I'll report back on how it goes later this semester!

We need a majority of people to know 5 things, which they largely do not:   1. Pollution from oil, coal and gas is heating the earth and causing dangerous weather. 2. All the climate scientists agree. 3. We must move quickly if we are to save a livable climate. 4. There are exciting solutions available right now, most of which save money. 5. Big polluting companies knew, lied, and stopped action. They need to pay to clean up their mess.

My baby girl is 6 month old today. Everyday, I get notifications from daycare on what she is doing, how much she ate and napped, etc. Today, I got sent a photo of her in the park, holding a LGBTQ pride flag while being read a book celebrating Pride. As a parent, I was thrilled.

Using two telescopes and over 280,000 individual photos, I captured my most detailed image of our moon. The full size is over a gigapixel. Trust me, you’ll want to zoom in on this one.

I was awestruck last night by the lights. What a great feeling! I took over 2000 photos. This is about 70 of them looking south and am eager to process more. There was the perfect amount of clouds.
