When Obi went to collect his NDC card, he said "it's a shame that Nigeria have no National Carrier". A man who was a governor when our national carrier died. Many State Governors now have their state carriers, some are even flying international now. Ogun State has international Airport and State carrier, Akwa Ibom has, Enugu has, etc.....Obi was Governor for 8 years, the only thing he did was Herobeer factory!!!

Dear Punch Nigeria Limited, Publishers of The Punch @MobilePunch, Re: Inaccurate Reportage on the Strength of Nigeria's Passport Under President Bola Tinubu In your article with the headline "Nigerian passport climbs global ranking, slips in visa-free access," published in The Punch Newspaper today, Wednesday, May 6, 2026, you reported that while Nigeria's passport has risen in strength on the Henley Passport Index, our visa-on-arrival and visa-free access have actually decreased. In particular, you stated that "The most well-documented is Ethiopia, which scrapped visa-on-arrival for Nigerian citizens in October 2022, requiring Nigerians to obtain visas from the Ethiopian embassy in Abuja before travelling. The change came barely two weeks after Ethiopian Airlines emerged as a core investor in the Nigerian national carrier project. Ethiopia, which had been one of the most accessible destinations on the African continent for Nigerian travellers, is now effectively inaccessible by any route." Yes, you are right that Ethiopia scrapped visa-on-arrival access for Nigerian citizens under President Muhammadu Buhari. However, visa-on-arrival access has been restored for citizens of Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu, due to the effective diplomatic engagement undertaken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under Her Excellency, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs. For example, I travelled to Ethiopia on Saturday, 11 April 2026, with my Standard Nigerian Passport, the standard passport available to all Nigerian citizens, and was issued a visa-on-arrival at Bole International Airport by the Ethiopian Immigration and Citizenship Service. Please find attached a copy of the visa-on-arrival issued to me by the Ethiopian authorities, which is available to all Nigerian citizens. You may also want to verify this information with the Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Abuja by calling 094618649. Additionally, you can call Ethiopian Airlines at +234 201 501 2411 to verify the information. Furthermore, rather than being "inaccessible by any route" for Nigerian citizens, Ethiopian Airlines has, since the Bola Tinubu administration resolved the visa restriction issue, increased its daily flights from various Nigerian airports from one to at least two, and now offers at least ten weekly flights from Abuja to Addis Ababa. So, it is not accurate that Ethiopia is "inaccessible by any route" for Nigerian citizens. The reality is that Ethiopia is accessible to Nigerians by many routes, including Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Enugu. For this expanded access, Nigeria has President Bola Tinubu and Barrister Festus Keyamo, SAN, the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, to thank. After confirming this piece of accurate information, you may wish to correct your reportage by stating accurately to the Nigerian public that, not only has Nigeria's passport grown in strength on the Henley Passport Index under President Bola Tinubu, but our visa-free and visa-on-arrival access has also improved under President Bola Tinubu, in particular, due to the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its very stable and qualified staff, and the Minister of Interior, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, along with the good officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service and its Comptroller-General, Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap, in conjunction with the collaborative efforts of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, headed by Ambassador Nasir Aminu. I thank you for your time and your kind and timely action on this matter. Reno Omokri Ambassador Designate to Mexico. Gospeller. Let me share a story I once heard about a man from my hometown who met Tinubu long ago before he became President. Some years ago, while working at a hotel in the United Kingdom, he discovered that Bola Ahmed Tinubu was a guest at the hotel. Determined to seize the moment, he pleaded with a colleague who was assigned to serve the President coffee, asking to take over the task. When he finally got the chance, he delivered the coffee himself, spoke to him in Yoruba, and passionately appealed for help. The President attempted to give him a tip which he refused, told him his qualifications, Tinubu listened, handed him his complimentary card, and told him to come see him in Nigeria whenever he was ready. Without hesitation, the man resigned from his job and traveled back to Nigeria, arriving even before the President did. He went straight to Bourdillon, waiting at the gate. When the President eventually arrived, the man presented the card to the security officers and kept calling out his name. Seeing him there, Bola Ahmed Tinubu was surprised by his determination. He granted him an audience, gave him a recommendation, and from there, the rest became history. Iโ€™ll leave out the manโ€™s name and the position he eventually attained, but the lesson speaks for itself.
