Close but no cigar for Siena.

Siena is up by a single point, 61-60, over No. 1 Duke with 5:47 to go. The Saints still haven't made a single substitution for the entire game.

No. 16 Siena 43, No. 1 Duke 32 (halftime). I saw UMBC beat #1 UVA in person. So far it looks exactly like that. Siena playing beautiful basketball; making everything. Still 20 minutes to go, and I imagine Jon Scheyer is about to light his team up at halftime.

Things I did not expect to hear on the CBS broadcast: “Duke has cut the Siena lead to eight.”

I'm in Greenville, where the 16th-seeded Siena Saints have started hot. Siena leads No. 1 overall seed Duke, 22-16, with 11:29 to go in the first half, and the Blue Devils have had to call a timeout to slow the momentum.

By this time tomorrow, Dell Curry's No. 30 jersey will be the rafters for the Charlotte Hornets, joining Bobby Phills (No. 13) as the only players in franchise history with that distinction. I asked Kendall Phills, Bobby's widow, what she thought of Dell joining her husband. Phills said: "Dell truly deserves this honor. My late husband Bobby respected him greatly as a teammate and always said Dell had one of the quickest releases of any shooter in the league! "To see his jersey hanging beside Bobby's will be very meaningful to me, because it represents the early days of the Hornets, and the impact that Dell and Bobby had on the game and their works off the court in the Charlotte community."
