How can you run a state-wide election if she can't run a simple convention? @DanasFlask Are you now an "election denier"? It's okay for you to ask for an audit, but when others do it, you need to invent a crime?

Michigan voters need to understand what’s really happening behind the headlines… Secretary of State @JocelynBenson just pushed a new rule through the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR)—not the full legislature—that effectively builds in a 20-year delay in cleaning up voter rolls. Here’s how she’s doing it: ▪️The clock to remove a voter doesn’t start when they move or become inactive ▪️It only starts after multiple election cycles of inactivity + confirmation notices ▪️Then the state can wait through additional federal waiting periods before removal Add it all up, and a voter record can sit on the rolls for up to two decades. So instead of cleaning the rolls efficiently, the system: ➡️ Keeps outdated registrations far longer ➡️ Delays removal even when someone has clearly moved or is no longer eligible ➡️ Expands the gap between reality and what the voter rolls show Why this matters: The National Voter Registration Act requires states to make a reasonable effort to maintain accurate voter rolls. Slowing the process this dramatically raises serious legal and integrity concerns. And here’s the part voters really shouldn’t ignore. Benson is: ▪️Writing these rules through JCAR (bypassing a full legislative vote) ▪️Overseeing Michigan’s elections ▪️AND running for governor at the same time That’s a concentration of power that should concern everyone, regardless of party. When the person controlling election rules is also a candidate—and those rules make voter roll maintenance less transparent—that’s a dangerous recipe for Michigan midterms in November.
