I just wanted to give everyone an update on our tremendously tenacious Tammy the cancer warrior. As you probably know Tammy had a post chemo office visit on February 5th and thought she was going to be ringing the bell signifying the end of her treatment. We were given some not so good cautionary news that there were some problem areas and we needed to slow down and gather some more information. A PET scan and a special blood test was ordered. The blood test is to see if there is cancer in her blood. The results of that test won’t be in for a couple more weeks but we were able to discuss the findings of the PET scan with the oncologist yesterday. Everything came back ok with the exception of a spot on Tammy’s liver. It’s in such a bad spot that in order to tell exactly what’s going on they would need to do another surgery and basically move all of her internal organs around to get to the affected area. Not the best situation at this time, especially after just recovering from a major surgery last November. However, there is a special trial going on that her oncologist is the point person in the state of Ohio and this trial is named the Destiny trial. The medicine in this trial is delivered with her maintenance infusion drugs and it seeks out cancer cells in the body, attaches itself to the cancer and then deploys its payload to the cancer cells and any cancer in the immediate area. Tammy has signed the consent to send her biopsies to be examined and we’re pretty confident she’ll be accepted in the next couple of days. This trial is limited to 566 people in the world. This is in no way a Hail Mary or last resort. This is an intentional, targeted approach from her oncologist to offer Tammy an opportunity not only to help cure her cancer and keep her from more surgeries but to help other women with gynecological cancers. This will require Tammy to get infusions for either the next 12 or 24 months depending on which leg of the medicine she’s prescribed so we’re far from the finish line but we’re 75% sure and optimistic that this will be the driving force to remission. Please keep all of those good thoughts and prayers coming and we appreciate everything everyone has done for us. It’s truly been amazing but if you could still share her GoFundMe page it would be appreciated. There’s a long way to go. We truly love and appreciate all of you and none of this will go without being paid forward. Thank you for taking the time to read this and accompanying us on this journey. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
