@angelaeagle Shame Rishi Sunak didn’t put a bet on when the 80th anniversary of DDay would fall. It might have helped him remember and so, not double book himself on the day!

@KarimPalant @PaulAtherton13 That grand child of mine is a real culinary disappointment. By the age of three he should have worked out that gravy is what you soak your food in when it has no taste of its own.
English

@PaulAtherton13 Baked potatoes with tuna and sweetcorn …And gravy…. Is usually frowned upon. And as he’s demonstrated - he does not need Esther Rantzen to stand up for him he’s perfectly capable of getting what he wants when he wants it through judicious use of the madman negotiating strategy

@emilyspurrell @LiverpoolWomens Congratulations! Mazel Tov! So pleased for you. XXX

What a rollercoaster weekend! Amazing to finally welcome our baby boy to the world though he didn’t do it quietly & needed a few days in hospital to recover.
Staff at @LiverpoolWomens were amazing and took such great care of us.
We’re now home and adjusting to our new lives ❤️

@Rozinliverpool @godfrey_lawson Tea in Yorkshire? What would be the point of having an empire then! Yes, it is ironic.
English

@godfrey_lawson I actually thought this post was ironic but it looks like you believe this s**t. Well knock yourself out, that passport came with a heavy price tag for the majority of us and the wait through passport control are actually longer than they were before.

Evening fellow Brexiteers - today is a happy day
I have finally joined the club and received my new blue BRITISH passport the ultimate PATRIOTIC statement of sovereignty from bureaucrats in Brussels and the world
This little book means I can apply for a visa to travel anywhere, join special non-EU queues with 150 other countries and, most importantly, proudly wave it in public to remind the locals how us Brexiteers are a self-sufficient people who firmly believe we rule the waves, cultivate tea in Yorkshire, grow coffee beans in Harrogate and gave the world Fish and chips!
Cheers to Brexit, because it’s all about #TakingBackControl 🇬🇧 #BluePassport #brexit

@DAaronovitch But she did say that she didn’t LIKE it! You’ll be reassured to know that this sensitive woman didn’t like the beheading of babies, the rape of women and girl the humiliation and torture of civilians, it’s just that… they were acts of « resistance »

@campbellclaret Right on all account, except that he delivered it well. But an alarmist wolf crying, what was the point Oscar contending piece of drama, it surely was!
English

I missed the great Churchillian call to arms but I am guessing from the rash of “wtf was that about?” messages that a) there was no clear purpose that made sense and required a PM statement. B) He delivered it badly. C) He is vaguely hoping it will stir things up a bit. But frankly he would do so much better if he just tried to do the job. Govern. Lead. Stop all this performative bullshit. The longer he delays an election the angrier 🇬🇧 will become.
English

@ratherbeinpisa @Peston Nobody wishes to erase the millions victims of the Nazis , but Winton managed to exfiltrate 600 Jewish children because they were the most obvious intended victims, not because he didn’t care about the others. It is very sad that some are embarrassed to say they were Jews.
English

In normal times I would laugh at HMV’s “sensitivity” editing of history. Today? Not so funny.
PS some of you are asking what has been edited (I have updated this post in response to queries). Put Nicholas Winton into your search engine and it will take you a millisecond to find out (or click here - en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicholas_…)

@welshpoppy2 @campbellclaret Obviously, this has been a youth centre for a very long time… maybe built under the first Wilson? Government ?
English

@campbellclaret Leaving aside reflections on the attendees I am fascinated that a ‘Youth Centre’ would have such a posh ceiling. My local authority (Labour) is so badly funded by the Govt that it is hard pushed to provide much more than the simplest accommodation for our youth clubs.
English

Sorry, what kind of youth centre is this?
