I’m tired of the Jeff Hafley slander. I’ve been known for the last several years to be a massive pessimist on here, but you guys have gone way too far with your hate for Hafley. Is it a sexy hire? No. Would he be my first or second pick? No. But acting like he’s some terrible candidate is objectively a lie. He led a top 10 defense in his first year as an NFL DC WITHOUT Micah Parsons or a real star on that Packers defense. He has HC experience with Boston College and actually led them to their best stretch in recent memory. Coming from a cold area background, you know he will instill toughness, discipline, and hard coaching. This whole narrative it’s a “lazy hire,” or a “bad hire,” because our GM knows him is actually the dumbest take I’ve ever heard. When you bring in a new GM, MOST of the time they hire someone they already know. It makes perfect sense, as a GM you already know their coaching style, how their team building philosophy aligns with yours, what type of players they like, etc. I’m not going to pretend and say Hafley will work out and be some great coach, but I DON’T think he’s a bad candidate. He’s definitely better as a candidate than Mike McDaniel was when we hired him back in 2022. I haven’t heard any valid reasons why Hafley “sucks,” and until he proves he does to me, I’m gonna trust Sully & the vision. #PhinsUp
