No, the picture and orientation are correct. There is a residential neighborhood to the south of the highway right next to the bridge (literally only 270m away). But there is also quite a vast expanse of wilderness straight from the bridge all the way to Malibu that should funnel the wildlife effectively. Biggest concern is coyotes actually. Could be a problem. The hot takes on both sides of this are tiresome. There are pros and cons; have to wait and see.

As with High Speed Rail, it's a good idea with terrible execution due to CA Dems' ossified incompetence. But at least this wildlife bridge will actually be completed and won't serve as a haven for psycho homeless drug addicts to terrorize people like HSR. Actually living in this area myself, my concern is much more with coyotes than mountain lions. Coyote population and predation have become a bigger problem in recent years (due to various factors) and wildlife authorities seem to be doing next to nothing about it. Human settlement should in fact come first for humans.
