@scsimodem It means not shunning the sinner, not labelling them, not excluding them, not shaming them. Welcome them to the assembly of the saints. It can also mean not placing them in a place of temptation to cause harm.

I have now been reliably informed that if a woman is promiscuous and then repents and turns to Jesus, it is unloving and wrong to not treat her the same as if she was still a virgin. To do otherwise is sinful and slanders the Church. No answer on what other sins this applies to.

@JJSPoe The idea that all you have to do is accept grace and you will never sin again is a heresy from the bowels of Hell and it's why so many pastors in so many churches get away with so much for so long.

@scsimodem It's not about me either - Christ lived fully, loved wastefully, and called on His followers to do the same. Grace is as easy as it gets - it's His free gift that requires no struggle or sacrifice because HE already struggled and sacrificed. All believers have to do is commit.

@scsimodem "As soon as they say the sinner's prayer"? Of course not! You need to do more than mumble a few magic words to be forgiven...don't you? But if they are sincere in their repentance, those "patterns of behavior" that caused all their misery come to an end.

@JJSPoe But never mind, YOU want to show off how pious YOU are by disregarding your brother's struggle and offering easy grace, one that requires no struggle, no sacrifice, and no commitment.

@JJSPoe I do this to HELP the new Christian. Pretending that no consequences matter, that no repeat temptations will ever come again, that they have no process of sanctification to go through, does THEM a disservice. It is not about me.

@scsimodem I stand by what I said. All sins. The sacrificial work of Christ is sufficient, and too many in the current discourse are acting outside the bounds of such grace.

@JJSPoe So in the interests of making Earth more like Heaven, you believe it is the command to all Christians to ignore all of a person's past actions the second they say the sinner's prayer without regard to long term consequences or patterns of behavior?

@scsimodem You seem to be missing the point. Earth is supposed to be like Heaven, and it is the duty of Christians to live as such. The Kingdom is not floating on some heavenly castle in the air, it is meant to be here - Thy Kingdom Come, after all.

@scsimodem There is a difference between personal relational choices and social effect choices. A murderer can be forgiven, yet still serve time. An alcoholic shouldn't be offered a job tending bar. A child abuser isn't suited for daycare. That isn't about redemption or forgiveness.

@JJSPoe Are you just...throwing darts at the Bible? You're all over the place and not making a point. The verse IN CONTEXT "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven," meaning "may your will be done with the same speed and certainty as in Heaven.

More so, Christian men believe something like "there is no greater Christlike love than self-sacrifice," and there is nothing worse for a man than sexual humiliation via his wife. @JJSPoe I did both and you're choosing to ignore me. I really didn't think this needed to be said, but it is, in fact, better to have not sinned to begin with.

@scsimodem The younger son is forgiven - which comes from the Father without strings attached. Show me the Father's punishment... but read Luke 15:7 first.

@JJSPoe You seem to be the one missing the point by implying that the younger son has escaped all consequences of his actions and is being treated as if he had never made any mistakes.

@scsimodem You were saying that the older son has (and therefore deserves) a greater reward for never having gone astray, which misses the point of not only the Parable, but the entire chapter.

When you say something like, “Your marriage as two Christians who married as virgins and have remained faithful to each other isn’t any better than a former porn star who repented and married,” you’re saying disciplined obedience isn’t better than sin and repentance. Yes. It is.
