I prefer clean air. I cannot forgive those who burn wood and pollute the blue sky with smoke, turning it gray.

Yesterday, I came across a YouTube channel that appears to have been created by a Japanese person. It features several short videos about the dangers of wood-burning stoves. Please translate them and help spread the word. @no-smokeno?si=mYGkdeYeq_JjBxCF" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">youtube.com/@no-smokeno?si…

The problem with the legislation is whatever you burn, it still emits fine particulate matter. That particulate matter has devastating effects on burners' (and their neighbours') health. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…

A study that compared emissions from different kinds of wood-burning appliances found that the “advanced” wood stoves emitted amounts of non-methane hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides and PAHs that were similar to or higher than those from traditional wood stoves. In fact,

Not okay @BCLungFdn ! You can't burn cleanly or safely - this is shameful!

Children in homes with wood burners could be exposed to over three times more pollution than those in non-wood-burning homes. 53 children in Anglesey (Ynys Môn) were given backpacks equipped with air pollution sensors. My latest for @guardian theguardian.com/environment/20…

Wood burners polluting rural homes more than traffic A citizen science project with schoolchildren on the Isle of Anglesey has revealed that for rural children, the greatest threat to air quality is not outside on the roads, but inside their own homes. airqualitynews.com/headlines/wood…

The growing threat of domestic wood burning stoves has led public health officials to warn about rising emissions from urban wood burning. A BMJ investigation reveals that nearly a third of councils in high use areas have faced pressure from the stove industry to tone down or withdraw campaigns. Commenting on The BMJ’s findings, Jonathan Blades, head of policy, told The BMJ: “These tactics by the stove industry clearly try to undermine public awareness of those risks, and that means people aren’t able to make informed decisions for their health. That’s a real concern that the councils need to address.” Find out more here: orlo.uk/UU1bj

Burning wood emits high levels of carbon dioxide, often exceeding fossil fuels like coal and natural gas per unit of energy produced. While considered renewable, it creates significant "carbon debt," releasing decades of stored carbon instantly while requiring years for regrowth.

Wood burning produces 20% of the UK's most dangerous air pollution - comparable to road transport. Yet only 1% of households rely on it as their main heating. Today we submitted our response to Defra's consultation, which you can read here: heyzine.com/flip-book/4181…

Subsidising wood-fuelled heating systems is just another phrase for 'giving people money to pollute the air and to make their neighbours' lives hell'.

I have identified a pattern of behavior common to wood stove offenders worldwide. When confronted with logical, scientific arguments, these offenders are left with no rebuttal. Consequently, they can only respond with emotional appeals and verbal abuse.

Both the wood-burning stove industry and its users strongly assert that wood-burning stoves do not emit any harmful substances. However, I have never seen a single instance where they actually measured the soot and smoke emitted from their own chimneys and published the results.
