Calling Houston “Big 12 #4” is either a bit disingenuous or poorly informed (no offense Coogs) Technically they did tie for 4th with 2 other teams (with the easiest Big12 schedule draw than any other Big12 team) but were the 10th best Big12 team by the metrics (11th of 16 by FPI) Since this post is from “College football Nerds” I guess we have to assume it’s just purposefully disingenuous because they should be smarter than to really call UH the Big12’s 4th best team…

So many idiotic takes flying around CFB twitter right now based on results from broken versions of teams playing bowl games. The problem is that CFB casuals love easy takes based on wins and losses, and aren't going to spare a solitary second trying to understand the context of a game. LSU had about 8 draft picks not play in their bowl, including most of their defense that was the core of their team. I took the time to break down who was out: - #1 and #3 tacklers at DL - #2, #3, and #4 tacklers at LB - #1 and #3 tacklers at DB - Only 2 of 7 leading tacklers played in total - LSU's 3rd leading tackler vs Houston (ILB Singleton) had 6 tackles on the season going into the game. Any narrative based on non-playoff bowl games with opt-outs, as it relates to that year's version of teams, is just stupid. Using the above to somehow say the SEC is "mid" because an unranked, broken version of SEC #10 lost by 3 to ranked B12 #4 is plain idiotic.
