@seandreilly I almost assumed so too, but these cards are hilarious. Designer could have easily put in a real card face.

@GoodmanHoops Probably not. Giannis is up for a super max next summer and paying him $76 million a year at 35 years old is a death sentence. He can barely stay healthy right now, can’t imagine how he’ll age.

Celtics fans: Would you do this trade? Jaylen Brown plus 2026 and 2027 first-round picks for Giannis? Also: The late first-rounders carry even less value with so many of those guys going back to college this year.

@John_Zannis @fatherfreeplay3 I don’t care what the media or odds said, it was delusional to have expectations that this team would raise a banner with this roster. Even if they don’t do the Vuc trade, Simons isn’t closing that gap. Also to expect Tatum less than a year removed to play 40+ a night was crazy

The moment I knew we weren’t winning the East with this group was when the Knicks absolutely skullfucked us at home on Super Bowl Sunday. As long as we were on a collision course with them, it wasn’t happening with us.
John Zannis@John_Zannis

Majority of fans - even some of us doubters - thought Celtics were clearly beat team in East. Entire NBA media machine picked them to go to finals. Don’t tell me it was a successful year. It’s a massive failure given raised expectations after how they playedand Tatum return.

@PranavSriraman This is a Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown stat. You can’t put all the blame on Joe. He doesn’t play

Joe Mazzulla is the first coach in NBA history to lose 3 series with a 90% win probability. The Celtics 3 series losses have come within the first 4 years of his coaching tenure. Game Breaking and Historical.

It sounds like cope but I think everyone lost sight of that. Obviously expectations changed a bit, especially when Tatum returned, but the signs were still clear they didn’t have enough to really make a deep run.
John Karalis 🇬🇷@John_Karalis

I think this is a good time to remind everyone that 56 wins & a deep playoff run wasn't EXACTLY the expectation. The "gap year" thing existed for a reason. Shout out to the C's for making everyone forget that for 8 months.

@joonlee Can’t even disagree. Probably should’ve had 2 championships if not 3 between 22-25. Great players who just play with their food too often.

This Celtics core of Brown and Tatum already has such a bizarre legacy. A championship that people discount because of the field, and a handful of terrible playoff exits. Given how much talent they’ve had over the years, feels like the group has underperformed overall.

The narrative all offseason will be “they shoot to many 3’s” but the offensive process was right. Missed 2 wide open ones and a mid range shot. Tough end to the season but can’t really be too upset. This was never a championship level roster

@jacksettleman Those are all fair points. But it would be poetic if the Embiid (Trust the process) era of Philadelphia went out, coming back from 3-1, to then lose to a team without their best player

@b00ch They wouldn’t have won the title last year but they probably don’t lose the Knicks series. I don’t know what Jason is watching that he believes we need more Vuc. He can’t switch, he drops to far in coverage and isn’t providing enough offensively to be worth playing.

@seandreilly It’s funny because Jason Timpf thinks Vuc should be playing 35 minutes. I wouldn’t go that far but i just don’t blame Vuc as much as everyone else does. Even if Joe played Luke more they still wouldn’t have won a title. That Thunder team was too good

Asked Joe Mazzulla how much he will reinvent the rotation / style of play going into Game 7. All year long, they haven’t changed the process — does that change now with the Celtics coming off back-to-back double digit losses for the first time this year? “I think you have to ask those questions. You also have to, which is difficult in a playoff series going into a Game 7, look at the stuff that you've been doing well, and the stuff that you just need to do better, and demand that of the guys. So I think it's a balance — trying to figure that out and take that into the game tomorrow.”

@julianedlow I put more of these series on the players than Joe. The Miami series, that team played unserious basketball. They seem entitled. Last year injuries and complacency ultimately did them in. This year is coaching and really poor play from Jaylen and Derrick.

The Celtics' players need to play better. Don't want to let them off the hook, but here's your alarming Mazzulla stat. IF Boston is upset in Game 7, Joe's 3 playoff departures would all be as a -500 series favorite or more: 2023 vs. MIA (-525) 2025 vs. NYK (-800) 2026 vs. PHI (-900)* * BOS was -8000 to win the series up 3-1. Maybe the market is just off on these Celtics teams, but that's extreme underachieving outside of the title season. Series odds from @DKSportsbook CC @bigjimmurray @Cerrone_Battle @michaelFhurley
