It’s my last week in DC as the Defense Attache for the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the United States. I introduced my successor, Air Commodore Erwin van Beljouw to our contacts in the Pentagon. #nlintheusa

We gathered together today on #RemembranceDay to honor the members of the Dutch armed forces and civilians who have died in wars or crisis-management operations since WWII. The ceremony was accompanied by the @RFGGJ_ from the Netherlands, our @NLDefatUSA, and defense partners.

As the Netherlands representative I witnessed today the US Pacific Fleet change of Command Ceremony. ADM Koehler has relieved ADM Paparo. The Netherlands is committed to the Indo Pacific which will be underlined with the participation of HNLMS Tromp in exercise RIMPAC.⁦

Demissionair MP Mark Rutte, de minister van EZ, Micky Adriaansen, ambassadeur Birgitta Tazelaar e.a. hebben als tussenstop voor een handelsmissie Luke AFB (Arizona) bezocht, waar Nederland sinds 2019 samen met andere NAVO landen F-35 piloten opleidt. @Kon_Luchtmacht

Dit zie je in veel eetzalen op Amerikaanse bases, een tafeltje apart voor POW-MIA; Prisoner of War - Missing in Action, zodat deze groep niet wordt vergeten -You are not forgotten. Ontstaan in 1972 (Vietnam oorlog) RESPECT

Samen met PCDS, VADM Boots en DIMS, CDR Sillevis Smitt Pentagon bezocht voor bezoek aan ADM Grady, Vice Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff. Daarna kranslegging bij graf Onbekende soldaat en de 4 NL graven bezocht (Begraafplaats Arlington).

Per vandaag gaat SMJR LDGB Ingrid van Roosendaal door het leven als Adjudant en daarmee komt een einde aan haar Amerikaanse avontuur, nu weer verder in de bakermat Den Helder. Maar een laatste mooie herinnering om bevorderd te worden door de ambassadeur en de defat.@kon_marine

Today General Berger, 38th Commandant of the Marine Corps, ended his impressive carreer of 42 years USMC. The Netherlands thanks GEN Berger for the great US-NL cooperation between the Marine Corps. @NLintheUSA @korpsmariniers

Vandaag welverdiende beloning uitgereikt aan LTKOL Erwin Koeken, voor zijn werkzaamheden in het algemeen maar zeker ook voor de berg aan nevenactiviteiten die hij op zich neemt zoals o.a. alle financiele zaken van 3 internationale associations in Washington DC.

Ook in Washington DC zijn we 2 minuten stil om te herdenken. Samen met de internationale attaches, NL militairen en burgers in DC.

Goede week met simultaan bezoek van C-LSK, C-LSK desig en C-ZSK met hun delegaties. Belangrijk om NL belangen een push te geven met hun aanwezigheid. @Defensie
