I was sitting on the beach with my family when an older gentleman set up his beach chair and umbrella next to us.
He sat down in his chair, looked my way, raised a Mai Tai, said "cheers," and looked off toward the ocean.
The guy looked as if he had been sitting in the sun for decades.
Wrinkled brown skin that was almost crispy looking. Needle like silver hair showing from under an old, sweat stained Corona hat.
I'm not one for small talk, so I just said "cheers" back and went about my business.
About five minutes later (I was about to doze off in my chair), out of nowhere, the old man said, "What brings you to [location redacted]?"
I hesitated. Eyes still closed, I debated whether or not to pretend I was asleep. Again, I'm not one for small talk. But... I decided to be cordial instead.
I responded, "We're here on a family vacation. Just enjoying some time away together."
The old man gave a mischievous smile that exposed one gold tooth among what I’d consider a very good set of teeth for a man his age.
He then said, "Love to hear that! You know, these are the important times in life. It's not important how much money you make, what your job title is, or how big your house is. What is important are the memories you build with your family."
I nodded in affirmation, trying to end the conversation as quickly as possible.
To my surprise, he then swallowed the rest of his Mai Tai, popped out of his chair, folded it up and tucked it under his arm, and started walking away.
He stopped for a second, turned all the way around to face us again, and said, "By the way, I bet you had to work a lot of hours to be able to afford to take your family on a vacation. Right?"
I nodded.
He looked me in the eyes, showed his gold tooth behind another wry smile, and said, "You should escape the grind......
instead you should.... embrace the $GRIND

The price action of the last week leads to awkward bag-holding.
You don't want to sell because it's already down a lot and/or you're tempted to wait for a bounce to reassess.
Simple test:
"If I didn't have a position, would I want the exposure I have now?"
Yes --> Cool, you're fine.
No --> Do something about it.
Active positions cost mental capital, which is a scarce resource.
You're less likely to spot and execute the next good trade if the current shit trade is eating away at you.
