This may beat the time I was cast as a bauble on the bottom of the Christmas tree.

Nativity season is upon us! My son has been cast as a wise man. My daughter, on the otherhand -

Taking shameless advantage of needing to travel through London to get home from #SAMBrighton, and have brought myself out to see @WWTAOnStage.
English

@bethangriffith And important to know that sometimes you have to make it explicit that you’re giving feedback, in order for it to be received as such. We’ve discussed whether there are subtle ways to do this, and I was relieved that someone else had come to the same conclusion!
English

Another excellent talk - and also important to know that it only takes a few seconds to do this and it doesn’t necessarily have to be formal “I liked… let me give you a tip”
Gordon McKinnon@gordonmck
Eportfolio was not designed as a method of providing feedback, just as a record of it. And we should keep it meaningful #SAMBrighton

@RhonaBriggs1 My medical school flatmate and my aunt had a custody battle when my mum died over who got to take over Advent calendar duties, and the extremely satisfactory resolution was that now I get two.

I am 39 (and I have no parents), and I would riot if I didn’t receive an advent calendar.
EMG@GaddersII
My children are hinting they're expecting advent calendars again this year. They're 27 and 19.

@VickyKomrower I’m telling myself I’d have been faster if I didn’t keep stopping to take pictures of the sunrise…

English

@sefkhet Was a stunning morning for a run ( although Iwas a little slow after a late night!)
English

My “early session” at #SAMBrighton: a wee run into the sunrise and a pain au chocolat on the beach. You’d think they’d got the sky to show off for us.

@techpriest On the one hand, I’m awake this time. On the other hand, I’m not in Scotland and they have some competition from the lights of Brighton Pier.
English

@dr_doddle I picked up the phone a month ago to make a referral and introduced myself as “one of the med regs”; didn’t realise until I hung up and found the whole office failing to suppress giggles. I have been a consultant for two years.
English

@VickyKomrower I agree with our president that the other best thing is two days of not having to explain what our specialty is.
English

@sefkhet I think it’s the best thing about SAM conferences. Over the years, it’s only when I’ve got to the conference I’ve realised how burnt out I am and how much I needed an exhale and a reset. Thankfully that what it allows.
English

It’s oddly affirming to be at #sambrighton, hearing from amazing colleagues that everywhere’s on fire and we’re all struggling. This morning feels like it’s given us permission to exhale, just for a minute.

Recurrent reminders on World Mental Health day at #SAMBrighton that all of us medical starlings need to be happy and mentally healthy in order to cohesively murmurate like this lovely lot, to provide excellent care for our patients and keep coming to work every day.

“One thing I love about this conference is that for one day in my life I don’t have to explain what Acute Medicine actually is”

@jakerrush @MissalModernist The King (or Queen) of England stops practicing as an Anglican as soon as they cross the border into Scotland.

@MissalModernist The head of your church is the king of England bro

@sarah16107480 @Medic_Russell I had someone tell me last week that I was too young to be the doctor, which is a tricky one to answer when you’re almost 40 and also the boss of the man they’ve already met.
English

A whole month ago. There’s a whole series of photos from the #GNR where you just see me trying to deal with the combination of relentless pishing rain and wearing glasses, but there’s also this: the first finish line photo of me I’ve ever liked.
