@sega_cd @neogeo8man I haven't seen much of the 2007 series, but it feels like the nicest Kitaro's ever been.
Episode 2 has Nezumi-Otoko going "Please Mr Yōkai, don't hurt the humanz at this company I work for," as if he'd seriously consider their safety.

these 2000s retro revivals were way better since they were more likely to keep the original styles or at least be way closer to them instead of "updating for a modern audience"
hakaba kitaro didn't replicate mizuki as well as it COULD have but it tried!

@neogeo8man i thought the urusei yatsura reboot did a pretty good job of keeping that art style. i showed the trailer to a really casual coworker when it was coming out and he noted it had "an older art style" so it was something even a normie could pick out

my point is that the 2000s stood out as having more accurate adaptations of old stuff than past and future decades. the main 2000s kitaro was part of an older trend. tetsujin did have a then-modern reimagining before the imagawa one x.com/sega_cd/status…

Hey #umamusune fan, a few years ago (2022 maybe?) I won a racing horse plush at Round 1 and I’ve never been able to figure out who he’s supposed to be. I know Japanese race horse plush have been being made long before the game but someone have to know who he is. Thank you.
