@AndyHughesCrime @LBC One of those posts it feels odd to "like". I despair of the police sometimes.

EXCLUSIVE: A woman who claims she was drugged and thrown into the River Thames by the Black Cab Rapist John Worboys, was told by police they would not pursue her case because they “already had enough victims". @LBC lbc.co.uk/article/woman-…

@crimlawuk Have bookmarked. Pre e.ptively I think the starting point is proper, granular, OBJECTIVE understanding of what is going on. Are sexual offences increasing? (probably) if so, by how much and why? Who is doing what to whom for what reason?

A rare example of a thoughtful and grown up discussion of one the most difficult issues of our times. Sexual violence carried out by children as young as 13. I argue that the criminal justice system cannot cope with these issues and that we as a society need to grapple with the online poison being injected into the minds of our young people. Putting kids in prison is a Victoria relic and does way more harm than good. We need effective rehabilitation and - more importantly - reeducation if we are to reverse the increase in sexual offending by - mostly - young men. x.com/JeremyVineOn5/…

@TheRambler1999 @Danjsalt Not praising the US especially but every other western country has gone down the open borders, deindustrialisation, restriction of basic freedoms rabbit hole. Only the US is as free and as rich as it used to be. It's the least bad option.

@elliereeves It will be tweaked a bit but still crap. Sentencing Guidelines are the problem. Outsourced to the liberal blob by Blair.

As Solicitor General I deal with dozens of cases under the unduly lenient sentence scheme each week. It is a vital part of our justice system and gives victims a voice. I am extremely pleased that the Attorney General has referred this case, clearly the right decision.

@TheRealJamieKay Me too but my sense is that the sentencing guidelines for children are pretty weak.

@MasterMaliq It's only possible if you acknowledge that people have a right to denigrate the Prophet and desecrate the Quran. It's fine to be sad. It's fine to believe they will go to hell but believing that they shoudn't be allowed to do it isn't ok.

@drhingram @StevenJonMiller I'd always assumed it would be a final collapse in the bond market and/or mass racialised civil unrest but an asteroid would be cooler.

@BibimbapNom @Anna_Soubry Two of these "kids" are 15, so 16 next birthday, which the government thinks makes them old enough to vote but not okd enough to understand that pre meditated attack rape with a weapon is wrong.

@sejwah @Anna_Soubry No it's not those guidelines include information about sentencing under 18 year olds. Like it reminds us that their brains are still developing and whatnot.

@BibimbapNom @Anna_Soubry The age stuff relates to 18-25. Your brain isn't fully mature unril 25 (which is why car insurance drops). Children are separate and depressingly touch feely. +

@BibimbapNom @Anna_Soubry These are the adult guidelines. There will be big reductions for "children" and custody is a "last resort". I suspect CoA will look at this but we will all be disappointed with the result.

We're seeing huge numbers of people being punished for criticising Islam or Muslim cultural practices at @SpeechUnion. This is the number of new such requests for help we get each month. Look what happens after Starmer comes to power. It's a 4x increase. And that was before the new 'anti-Muslim hostility' definition.

What I find hard to understand about our justice system is this: isn’t the need for law officers to intervene to review the sentences the judge has given an indication they have seriously erred and made a grave misjudgment in applying the law? And, if so, why is intervention by the attorney general not accompanied by proper accountability and professional consequences for the judge in question?
Keir Starmer@Keir_Starmer

This is a harrowing and brave testimony. The girls at the heart of this case have shown extraordinary bravery and strength in heinous circumstances. This is an appalling case and it is right that law officers are urgently reviewing the sentences. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

The Boriswave has such a radical effect on where I live. I have nothing against these people personally. But this is home. Home. It’s my home.,I have lost all respect - all - for sheep like conservatives who cannot grasp the scale and seriousness of what has been done to our home
