You care about them regardless of what they do or whether they ever loved or respected you.
That doesn’t mean you won’t put boundaries or walk away if there isn’t reciprocity in both.
You can love and miss someone everyday and never ever reach out.
You just keep on living and hope time will rearrange your feelings to the extent one day the pain will be irrelevant and the story will pop up in your mind just once in a while.
Sooner or later you realise that the true love of your life, the person who spends most on you and with whom you can truly count and should respect above all else, is yourself.
When we don’t do that, everything else tends to fall apart and it’s somewhat fake.
Thankfully we have our dogs and the odd good friend. Else nature and other experienced to find connection, love and respect from.
