We are missing a Fundamental point. An Ex-BJP MP (read GG) was placed in a position of Authority in Indian Cricket. Then what followed was obvious, he will first settle personal scores to suit his agenda and feed his ego then think of Indian Cricket. Caotain Dhoni had dropped GG to make space for Kohli in the Top order, now GG is taking his revenge though Virat deserved to play test cricket for another 2 years.

People saying Kohli should’ve just played those 2 tests because “he loves batting” are completely missing the point. It was never about 2 Tests. It was about respect and clarity. Kohli literally said “Either tell me on day 1 or be quiet” If the plan was to assess him after 2 tests then say it on day one itself. Don’t first make him feel backed, ask him to work on his game, play Ranji, prepare for England and then suddenly call him saying, “We’ll assess you and drop you if you fail.” That’s exactly what hurt him. He had already told people that he's looking to hit 4-5 centuries in England tour. A player who carried Indian test cricket for a decade doesn’t expect special treatment but he does expect honesty.
