As an organic farmer for the past 30 years I wat h on in absolute bewilderment as most people don’t seem to contribute anything of actual value to society as the new “administrative class” and the Financial Industrial Complex functions much like a parasite upon the real work of farmers, loggers, miners and builders. Ironically as the workforce shifts away from reality we have u precedented levels of chronic illness from poor nutrition and poisoned food

BREAKING: Manufacturing and construction employment now represents just ~15% of all US jobs, the lowest contribution in at least 175 years.
This percentage has declined -25 points since 1950.
Over the same period, agriculture has fallen -18 points, to just 2%, the lowest in history.
Meanwhile, private education and health jobs reflect ~20% of the total, professional and business services make up ~16%, and leisure and hospitality ~12%, all of which had ~5% each in 1950.
Trade, transportation, and utilities remain the most stable sector, holding steady at ~20% over the same period.
Financial activities and information make up ~10% of jobs, compared to ~5% in 1950.
The US economy has shifted from production to services.

Something I've learned the hard way is that a 2x4 isn't actually 2 inches by 4 inches. It used to be, but not anymore because of course.

US farms are disappearing at an alarming rate:
The number of US farms fell -15,000 YoY in 2025, to 1.87 million, the lowest since the 1850s.
This marks the 3rd annual decline and the 6th over the last 7 years.
Over this period, the number of farms has dropped -158,200, or -8%.
At the same time, total farmland has fallen -24.9 million acres, to 874 million, the lowest since the 1910s.
Meanwhile, farm bankruptcy filings surged +36% YoY, to 293 in the first 9 months of 2025.
US farms are in a long-term decline.
