If you are feeling perturbed by something you have heard, to the extent that you feel urgency to confirm it — and it does not pertain to your own family — you need to unplug from the news feed for a while.
When the trumpet for the Last Day is blown, there will be some people running around asking "did you hear that? Was that the trumpet?" While other people will continue planting their trees.

Sudan’s tragedy is being weaponized online, not to help Sudan, but to redirect Sudanese anger away from the Western powers whose policies weakened Sudan for decades, and toward closer, easier targets instead. And Allah says: “O you who believe, if a fāsiq (an unreliable source) brings you news, verify it — so you do not harm people out of ignorance and later regret what you did.” — Qur’an 49:6 This is a command to think before sharing, especially when lives are involved.
