@jwalker4 @TeriReedDavis @BlognDog @ByKellyCohen Ah, I see. I thought you might mean that if the food was poor, for example, you might not tip, or tip poorly, which wouldn't allow the server to make a living wage. It sounds like you tip well and I totally agree about the systemic issue and lack of awareness!

@senieevan @TeriReedDavis @BlognDog @ByKellyCohen Ugh. Nowhere in my tweet did I say I don’t tip. As a general rule of thumb I tip 20% on top of my bill. You’re missing my point. This is a systemic failure that Americans are conditioned to think is acceptable. The rest of the world is shocked by it.

@jwalker4 @TeriReedDavis @BlognDog @ByKellyCohen It sounds like you know full well how the system works, and still patronize restaurants. But then, because tips shouldn't be wages, you ignore the fact that restaurant workers need that money. Doesn't that penalize the servers and in no way challenge the system?

@TeriReedDavis @BlognDog @ByKellyCohen But then why is it the responsibility of the customer to tip to pay someone’s wage when it should be the restaurant owner paying a living wage? Why does it fall back on customers and not management? I will gladly tip if service and food are good, but tips are not wages.
