@RealAlbanianPat I've seen this guy unironically fantasizing about the US invading us and how many Americans he's going to kill lmao, he has no business calling anyone mentally ill or detached from reality. The arrogance and patronizing contempt oozing from that thread is really gross.

Dude you joined Twitter on December 2023 and you already have 15K more posts than me (99% of them are echo chamber political contents) I think you are probably the last person who should be accusing me of "mentally ill and detached from reality"

Young conservatives are having their first coming of age moment where they experience firsthand that the world is more complex than they initially thought. Coming detached from the social fabric and untethered from reality. The formation of mental illness on display.

"You're harassing me," says floor-crossing Liberal MP Chris d'Entremont, as he dodges Juno News' questions at the Liberal Party convention in Montreal. Reporter Quinn Patrick pressed him on whether he spoke to constituents who feel betrayed by his decision.

@rupasubramanya It's just the reality of what politics has become. The Liberal party would immediately collapse if Carney left - he is quite literally the only reason they're still in power. Do you apply this same criticism towards Carney and the LPC?

So Poilievre as leader of the opposition for the next decade? If a party collapses the moment its leader leaves, that suggests it's not built on principles but on personality cult. Which explains the unhinged reactions from his online groupies: no tolerance for criticism during the campaign, and even less now.

@SpencerFernando Why are you reposting this lmao Anyone with rational thought can see the "individual mind" of a Trump supporting, pro-life, convoy supporting woman isn't going to be protected by the LPC. She will take her seat, shut her mouth, vote as told and enjoy the perks of her crossing.

Were Canada to ban floor crossing, we would be suppressing the individual minds of those we elect, and further concentrating power in party leaders. As things stand now, floor crossing protects independence and keeps pressure on leaders to treat their colleagues well lest they watch those colleagues head elsewhere. Floor crossing – and the threat of it – protects us from a system where those we elect turn into mindless drones serving nothing more than the centralized will of ‘the leader.’

I JUST SUED THE TORONTO STAR FOR FAILING TO PUBLICLY REVEAL INFORMATION SHARED BY THE RCMP RE: JUSTIN TRUDEAU AND UNDERAGE PORN After much reflection, I finally decided to begin my litigation process related to events arising from the experiences I wrote about in 'In Trudeau's Kitchen'. I'm not even talking about the more specific details/consequences I shared in 'In Trudeau's Kitchen.' (i.e. how the Star may have been negligent with respect to not telling my story). Those will be explored soon. I'm talking about the bigger picture consequences of media not sharing important details about political leadership with the citizenry. Oh, how we suffer in their absence. In this case, I begin with something shared with me (2021)  by then Toronto Star Journalist Robert Cribb, to the effect that the RCMP had informed them that then Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was watching kiddie porn (underage porn) on his devices. It was their job to witness him, in order to ensure his devices weren't compromised by a foreign power. When asked (2022) if this story was going to go public, Cribb confirmed that the original source was credible, and affirmed that the story was coming ('where there's smoke, there's fire.'). It never came, and I believe it should have. I have struggled with this, and various other things shared with me by media, for a long time. At the link below is the filing itself, for anyone interested in following the story. It is for the court to decide, but it is my view that the Star, particularly in a situation where they are receiving funds from the government, had a fiduciary duty to bring this information to the Canadian public. It is surely in the public interest, and sharing it may well have made a huge difference with respect to cultivating the best outcome for Canadians. I explain more of my view in the documents. @dkennedyglans @MelanieBennet_ @TheMenzoid @ezralevant @scoopercooper @CandiceMalcolm @DavidKrayden @RealAndyLeeShow @LichTamara @JaneBrownNews @AlexpiersonAMP @cbcwatcher dropbox.com/scl/fi/2bywhzf…

For a physicist Susskind doesn't sound very smart, these are problems that were worked out by many of his contemporaries decades ago. 0.1 c is a pretty realistic target. That gets you to Alpha Centauri in 42 years. Twice that speed is a stretch goal but still achievable, which gets you to Tau Ceti in 60 years. The interstellar dust and cosmic radiation problems are greatly exaggerated. The interstellar medium is very very sparse and the chance of hitting macroscopic objects is almost zero. Cosmic radiation is a known but manageable problem, mainly a question of shielding. Sure, at high relativistic velocity (e.g. 50% c or greater) these two things become unmanageable and dangerous, but that's not even under consideration. Jumping out to nearby stars in the nearest one or two dozen light-years from Sol is extremely difficult but definitely achievable. The real challenges are not even technical in nature, they are mostly social and psychological, e.g. how do you engineer a society that can maintain self-cohesion over such a long journey.

We're not going to travel beyond the solar system, according to Leonard Susskind. And neither are aliens, coming to visit us. We may not be alone, but we are stuck here for, essentially forever. 1. The nearest star is 4.24 light years away. The fastest spacecraft ever built would require 6,600 years to get there. 2. Surely we can just build faster spacecraft. The problem is to get to anywhere close to the speed of light, we need exponentially more energy. 3. Chemical rockets will just not work. Even fusion rockets won't work. Even 10% of the speed of light is not achievable. The Tsiolkovsky Rocket Equation prevents it. 4. Interstellar dust becomes hand grenades when traveling anywhere close to the speed of light. Ships break. 5. Space radiation will kill us over the time need to travel interstellar distances. Impossible to protect without massive shields, which require massive energy to accelerate and de-accelerate.
