When I graduated from uni, consulting was my first choice. I spent months training for case interviews, and it did help massively to either get the jobs or ace other non-case interviews. I had case partners and curated a drive with my prep materials. The drive in case anyone needed it: drive.google.com/drive/folders/…

This is me during my Shell Recruitment Day in November 2011. 1hr after the whole day group interview, I got the phone call I can never forget, “Congratulations, they all loved you. When can you start?” If you have an upcoming group interview where they put a bunch of you together in a room and give you a task to work on together, then sit up. I will tell you my secrets. I don’t need them anymore and it can help you land your dream job. They are what I used during my SRD. I have given the same playbook to many mentees who used them to land their dream jobs in various companies. So, trust me, this works. A 🧵

Just wrapped up a 4-part IFRS 9 ECL series with a focus on the modelling. Almost 4hrs in all but to follow through with the modeling you probably need at least 8hrs. Part 1: A brief intro - Classification & Measurement (SPPI, business model assessment, EIR dynamics) youtu.be/5W_XLsSDjtg Part 2: ECL framework + EAD Modelling (amortisation profiles, CCF, behavioural assumptions) youtu.be/cSPNrT6_th8 Part 3: PD Modelling (Markov Chain, transition matrices, lifetime PD term structure) youtu.be/WLJ0EvKJg60 Part 4: LGD + Full ECL (recoveries, collateral projection etc) youtu.be/N1dVvPgnBLA Some snippets 👇 Also used the opportunity to highlight advanced Excel functions like LET, LAMBDA, and SCAN. Worth exploring if you’re into complex modelling. Of course, it’s almost impossible to cover everything within a limited time. I only just scratch the surface😎. #IFRS9 #ECL #CreditRisk #Quant

Got no TGIF plans today, I can then deliver on one of my past tweets promises...let’s see which one I go with for a short practical video (2hrs min) Option 1: IFRS 9 made simple focusing on ECL, explaining the concept, then build a sophisticated model using Markov Chain & Cox Proportional Hazard (Using Excel + R/Python). Option 2: Pensions Talk. saw a UK survey yesterday hence my tweet on retirement goals. 16% of retirees “unretiring” due to declining spending power. Can’t imagine Nigeria’s case. Based on my hypothetical simulations, if inflation/naira depreciation >10% yearly, retirement goals get shaky. (Hence my last tweet on my retirement) I intend to talk about ABC of pensions, post retirement options, how pension works, how to estimate what your pension could be at retirement & if it’s truly sufficient, what are the options available. let me run random simulation to decide for me.

@AskMichaelTaiwo Some schools in the UK use a combination of grades and extra curricular to award the best student

Should BGS be based on grades only! Take for instance. We have two students. Student A and Student B. Student A finished with a 4.94 CGPA. Topped his class. Didn’t do anything other than book. Student B finished with a 4.90. Second best. Represented his department in competitions. Tutored others consistently. Who is your BGS?

Today’s hot take is that Real estate people in Nigeria should build more facilities, less residential. Build things like stadiums, libraries that are world class and generate revenue🤔🤔

Think about prompting like ever other mathematical problem: 1. Set clear context 2. Define the objective 3. Constrain the output

As someone in the quant/maths space, you know this: the more complex the problem, the harder it is to find a true optimum. Where you start often determines where you end. Now think about how that applies to AI and prompting…

I just connected my Apple Music to ChatGPT and I use chat to curate my playlists directly into Apple Music based on what I like. It’s actually much better than the Apple Music algorithm.

@Warrence_Wegba @butakha_ @iSlimfit 🤝. I also want people to know that every random person can get it. I’ve tweeted so many times about what you can do to prepare. You also have to be ready to fail a lot but have a very strong mindset and mentality.

@sersanya1 @butakha_ @iSlimfit Lol, I know you can't reduce it to exposure normally.. the idea behind exposure tho, like I mentioned, is to position you with what you already have, in the right path

Nope! A lot of career-changing opportunities exist for undergraduates in Nigeria especially if you graduate with good grades. School is not a scam. And it’s why I love UNILAG students. Most of them know about these opportunities. Apart from Bloomberg, another example is the Bank of America internship opportunity in London where they offer a lot of undergraduates from top Nigerian universities. They pay for their visa, flight and accommodation and offer competitive salary for one year. Most of them get retained afterwards. My sister-in-law kicked off her high flying career through this opportunity immediately after graduating from Unilag.

Did Bloomberg sign a contract with Unilag?😭😭

@sersanya1 @butakha_ @iSlimfit Yeah I understand getting the job requires more than just exposure. But to get those things that would give you the job, you need exposure

@Warrence_Wegba @butakha_ @iSlimfit Tbh I get you, and I think more has and can be done to help create more exposure. But the ability to find information when it’s not 100% public is also part of the grind. I’m saying it as someone that went through these processes in the past. Kind of limited with word counts lol

@Warrence_Wegba @butakha_ @iSlimfit The idea behind your point makes sense. When I did NYSC I realized there was assymetry with information and that’s normal. Still That doesn’t lead to a conclusion that getting the job is all exposure. If 3 ppl get a job when 10k people apply, it’s not all exposure is my point

@sersanya1 @butakha_ @iSlimfit I paid just 30k. But they're very vital for entry consultants. But a majority of people don't know that there's even such courses that are that cheap, not because they're hidden, but because they're not aware
