Iran used to be quite benevolent. Despite having full control over the most critical chokepoint, they never behaved like bandits. Had all the scientists to build nukes, but always respected the nuclear deal. They got sanctioned to hell in return. Now that they have started fighting back, bombing the bases in their neighbourhood, and charging toll from oil companies, US is considering lifting sanctions on Iranian oil.

Yesterday's joint statement by six countries on the Strait of Hormuz shows how far it is from upholding the rule of int. law. The statement clearly fails to address the source of the current crisis: the unprovoked military aggression by the American and Israeli regimes against Iran—aggression that is, undoubtedly, unequivocally and in broad daylight, a violation of int. law and the UN Charter. It does not bother to condemn the "bombing" of diplomacy just as it was close to yielding a viable agreement. Nor does it dare to condemn the aggressors for transforming the entire region, including the Strait of Hormuz, into a war zone from which they continue to launch attacks on the Iranian nation. It fails to acknowledge that the Israeli regime attacked the South Pars gas field—shared between Iran and Qatar—and overlooks the American and Israeli escalations, to which Iran only responds in self-defense according to Article 51 of the UN Charter. It fails to recognize that the int. community must pressure the aggressors to stop their aggression permanently, to mitigate its impact. Let us be clear: two things constitute a "threat to int. peace and security." First, the military aggressions by the American and Israeli regimes against Iran, with their wider regional and global implications. Second, the silence of those who refuse to condemn and stop this aggression—a silence that instead produces statements that only serve to embolden the aggressors and their collaborators.
