@TessaViolet @maggie_stjohn There's a mic called from Shure called an SM7b that are fairly ubiquitous b/c they tend to sound good for most people, and they tend to sound good in 'non-studio' rooms (aka the bedrooms and home studio rooms most of us record in these days).
English

@maggie_stjohn @sethearnest will know (I don't! haha), but what I do know is mics are very personal and sound different on different voices. this one really works for me but won't be right for everybody!
English

@TessaViolet what mic do you use to record vocals? I’m upgrading and need advice, please and thank you miss Tessa Violet
English

@TessaViolet @maggie_stjohn Most of Tessa's stuff we've done together is an AKG C-12 VR (one of those green and gold ones). But that same mic sound terrible on some people, so as Tessa said, it's really voice-dependent.
English

@honestmp3 Excited & grateful. Like a baby giraffe just discovering the joy of running through a field.
English

@sethearnest how are you feeli nd during this quarantine anthem launch

Lovely piece full of wisdom and insight: forge.medium.com/prepare-for-th…. Thanks, @juliovincent!

I gotta say one of my favourite momenta on @johnreuben's latest record is @sethearnest saying "And Seth!"

@TerryRedherring @TessaViolet So dig in w/her and find what she wants, and you'll be on a good path!
English

@TerryRedherring @TessaViolet Yes, if it's her album, then it's your job to support her vision. When helping someone out, we're never Frodo or Luke; we're always Gandalf or Obi-Wan, i.e. we're there to help and guide, not be the focus and the hero.
English

@likaism Love that album. There's so much other-wordliness on that album (which I always love that feeling in music or novel or movies or whatever). I do feel a heavy sadness on that album, too, so sometimes it's a heavy listen. But beauuuuutiful songs.
English

@sethearnest also thoughts on a moon shaped pool? really loved it when it came out, it has some beautiful tunes
English

@sethearnest we need to talk about radiohead mister. i am a very very huge fan. this is important please. i am a big fan. did you see the show they premiered yesterday?
English

@sethearnest god in rainbows is good. all these three are incredible and i totally understand you so much for having a hard time choosing! these three are legendary in their own way and i remember the entire in rainbows scandal. here’s a meme to summarize my thoughts on these three :)

English

@MenswearMartin YES! 'Everything You've Come to Expect' is awesome! I need to listen to earlier albums more, too! Thanks for the heads up.
English

@sethearnest have you ever listened to The Last Shadow Puppets? If not, I’d highly recommend their first album simply based on your love for the Beatles
English

@TerryRedherring @TessaViolet If it doesn't need to stay acoustic-y, then the sky's the limit. A song is generally just a melody, some sort of harmonic support, and most of the time something rhythmic going on, so figure out cool ways to support your vocal in interesting ways.
English

@TerryRedherring @TessaViolet If you want it still feel acoustic, then just pick appropriate other pieces/instruments to support the main voice and instrument (acoustic guitar or uke or whatever is the main inst) and not distract from it.
English

@likaism I really never have favorites w/anything (Enneagram 9, ha). If I could only take one of their albums to an island, it'd be either OK Computer or In Rainbows, but even that's an impossibly difficult discussion. Or Kid A--I can't even answer my own question.
English

@sethearnest it’s such a nice show! great tracks and great performance as always. you have any favorites from them?
English

@ericthelemming Yes!! That album is amazing. Check out the first tune on there "Hush" where it's mainly just vocals--wow. And "New Mistake" "All Is Forgiven"...oh I could go on and on about that album.
English

@tessaviolet_upd @TessaViolet Yes, Tessa rules. I like most that she's always interested in finding something interesting to say and do in her music.
English
