What I appreciate about the early 2000s games is how many of them were set in a contemporary setting, working with the then-present day environments I feel like (though I don't have the numbers) today the settings are heavily skewed towards space sci-fi and fantasy

This is partially why in @severlink_game we're pursuing the somewhat grounded mundane look for our environments
