One of our projects aims at expanding Sakai's approach to form #tetraPEG gels to metallo-supramolecular transient connectivity. This may let us learn how connectivity defects steer mechanics and dynamics of such materials. Now, its fundament has been laid; excited to build on it.

Pleasure before work. Today, we celebrated the granting of our new Collaborative Research Center on Defects in Soft Matter. It’s been a long run that finally reached its goal. This success was made possible by tailwinds of some who never stopped believing in it. Cheers to you!🙏

Defects and Defect Engineering in Soft Matter — this is the name & goal of our new CRC. When shaping the idea, @PolBesenius & @sci_ffert from our steering team co-authored a review on rich existing work in that direction; it foreshadows great perspectives. pubs.rsc.org/en/content/art…

🎉 Our CRC 1552 'Defects and Defect Engineering in Soft Matter' will be funded by @dfg_public and kick off at @uni_mainz & @mpi_polymer soon, led by spokesperson @sci_ffert. It will make defects new function givers in superb soft materials. Thanks to all who made this possible!🍾
