Maybe I'm doing too much but why I do I have a strange feeling Sidney Crosby was apart of the group that selected Celebrini as captain behind the scenes. I say this because: 1. Sid took longer than usual to commit to the tournament. 2. If Sid is on the team there's no logical way anyone takes the C over Sid. 3. They announced the captains and the very next day Sid announces he's in. I think they're setting up Celebrini to be the future of team Canada for the next 20 years.

@JJohnso_n @OSSalski @nhlpens Oh please. Sid was captain of the penguins when he was 19. Deserve it more? Please. He makes the biggest impact to his team through the way he preps, plays and inspires his teammates. He has been in training with the sharks to be a captain.

Sid not having the C for a Canadian team he’s playing on is insane. Greats always talk about learning from the greats before them. If he’s there, he’s obviously the captain, just give him the letter. Doesn’t matter but sometimes we twist ourselves in knots overthinking stuff.

Macklin Celebrini will remain captain at the 2026 #MensWorlds after a decision led by the players. Sidney Crosby will serve as an alternate captain for the tournament.

@BarDown @TSN_Sports At first I was thinking this was all scripted…Sid joins only after they name Mac captain. Now it seems a bit muddled. If Mac is truly being picked to be the next captain, perhaps they can think of the right time to make the transition, and Sid ceremoniously hands it off.
