I always thought that Regular Show took place in present day. In the prank caller episode, they time travel to the 1980's and when they fall through the void of years, the latest year you can see is 2004.
Tech such as smartphones and flat screen TVs are present, which obviously didn't exist in the 80's. Sure, there's a ton of old tech such as CRTs and the Sega Master System, but people were nostalgic for that time period when Regular Show was airing and a ton of people still had box TVs in 2010.

Ok so I’m learning a decent amount of people actually thought Regular Show was set in the 80s or 90s. Idk about yall but I always thought the show was late 2000s-2010s to its core, with the reverence for previous decades (especially 80s) being a large part of that identity.
