@MFA_China Persistent denial & ignoring the fact of Japanese atrocities committed during WWII by Japan will lead to its destruction & obliteration. Karma & retribution are real & will strike on unrepentant people & nations

@globaltimesnews George Yeo is right in his assessment of Takaichi's intention. In its denial of and ignoring the past history of Japanese atrocities committed during WWII, Japan risks the wrath of China, Korea and many S.E. nations should it choose to revive its fascist ambition & militarism.

Takaichi's erroneous remarks on Taiwan question is a position not taken by any other country. She is making the defense of Taiwan the defense of Japan. This action “could be deliberate” to “improve her popularity in Japan,” former Singapore FM George Yeo told Global Times. globaltimes.cn/page/202512/13…

The Japanese side has in recent years been revamping the security and defense policies, beefing up the defense budget and seeking to revise its three non-nuclear principles. Some forces in Japan have been trying hard to break free from the Pacifist Constitution and Japan’s legal obligations as a defeated country in WWII. They never truly learned the lessons from history, never truly did any soul-searching about Japan’s war atrocities or looked at them squarely, and never truly sought to prevent the revival of militarism in Japan. They hope that by whitewashing and not mentioning the true history, they could somehow make the world forget and release Japan from its obligations, but the world will not be deceived. On issues of principle, an evasive attitude will not get the Japanese side anywhere. We urge the Japanese side to learn the lessons of history, simply retract the erroneous remarks as it should and take practical steps to honor its political commitments to China.

Japan is deploying medium-range missiles in the Ryukyu Islands, on Yonaguni, just 110 km from China's Taiwan. This move revives a forgotten name: Ryukyu. Once a thriving kingdom with its own culture and was recognized by many countries, Ryukyu was gradually erased: annexed by Japan, manipulated after WWII, and rewritten as "Okinawa." How does a kingdom disappear? The Undetermined Status Of Ryukyu uncover the buried truth. #Ryukyu #ChinaJapan

🇯🇵📜 Japan’s Opinion On Taiwan Falls Apart Once You Read This Forgotten History 🇨🇳🌏 If you listen to Tokyo today, you’d think Okinawa, Yonaguni and the whole Ryukyu chain have “always been Japanese.” That’s the line they push while deploying missiles 110 km from Taiwan and shouting about “regional stability.” The reality? The history of these islands tells a very different story, one Japan would rather bury. Here are the facts: 🔹 The Ryukyu Islands (Okinawa, Miyako, Yaeyama, Yonaguni) were never originally Japanese. They were home to the Ryukyuan people, with their own culture, language and kings. 🔹 From 1372 to 1879, over 500 years, the Ryukyu Kingdom was a Chinese tributary state. Every Ryukyuan king needed investiture from the Chinese emperor. China handled the kingdom’s foreign affairs, protection and legitimacy. 🔹 Japan first touched the islands in 1609 when the Satsuma Domain invaded. But even then: - Ryukyu remained an independent kingdom - It continued tribute to China - It did NOT become part of Japan Japan used Ryukyu as a hidden backdoor to trade with China. 🔹 Japan only annexed the islands in 1879, long after seizing Hokkaido, after swallowing Ainu territory and right before invading Taiwan. 👉The annexation was forced, illegitimate and rejected by both Ryukyuans and China. 🔹 After WWII, the islands weren’t returned to Japan. The United States took them, including Yonaguni and ruled them directly from 1945 to 1972. And here’s the important fact: 📝 A declassified 1947 memo shows Japan’s emperor secretly asked the U.S. to KEEP Okinawa permanently, even suggesting a 50-year lease. Japan literally begged Washington to hold onto the islands, because they feared the Soviet Union and mistrusted their own internal politics. Kind of awkward, considering today’s hyper-nationalist talk. 🔹 1972 “reversion” was only administrative. Ryukyuans were never consulted. China never recognized Japan’s claim. The U.S. kept permanent bases anyway, all on Ryukyuan land. Now Tokyo is deploying missiles on Yonaguni, the island closest to Taiwan, an island Japan only acquired in 1879 and lost again in 1945. And yet they present it as some ancient birthright. History says otherwise. If we’re going to talk about Taiwan and missile deployments, then the full history of the Ryukyu chain, Yonaguni included, needs to be part of the conversation. Because pretending these islands were “always Japanese” isn’t just misleading. It’s rewriting an entire region’s past.

@globaltimesnews Japan sitting PM Sanae Takaichi tried to provoke & stir up trouble by saying that Japan can invoke militarism again if China invades Taiwan. This is atrocious and if Japan is to revive militarism again it will definitely incur the wrath of China, Korea & all SE nations

Multiple Japanese media outlets reported that when asked whether she had discussed the Taiwan question with US President Donald Trump during their recent call, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi dodged the question. Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday that after a China-US phone call initiated by Washington on Monday evening, Trump soon phoned Takaichi and, days after she "outraged China," advised her not to provoke Beijing over Taiwan's sovereignty. globaltimes.cn/page/202511/13…

Some Chinese experts noted that Tokyo’s plan to press ahead with the planned missile deployment on the island close to Taiwan – despite the diplomatic fallout – signals that Japan is doubling down on a confrontational posture and is not taking the damage to bilateral ties seriously. globaltimes.cn/page/202511/13…

Chinese FM Wang Yi: It is shocking for a sitting Japanese leader to openly send the wrong signal of attempting to intervene militarily in the Taiwan question, saying what should not be said and crossing a red line that must not be crossed. China must respond with resolve—not merely to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, but to protect the hard-won post-WWII order secured through blood and sacrifice, and to uphold international justice and our common humanity. The Japanese government has made solemn commitments regarding the Taiwan question in the four political documents between China and Japan. These are binding commitments under international law, and there is no room for ambiguity or misrepresentation. Whichever political party or person holding power in Japan must abide by these commitments. Just as a person without credibility can’t establish himself in society, a country without credibility will have no standing in the community of nations. China urges Japan to do serious soul-searching and correct its wrongdoing at an early date, and stop pursuing its misguided course.
