@brookeswrites SL played really well-with a bit more confidence, could have done better than 1-2. England not pushed enough in first 2 tests. Nicholas: a historical question for my work: have red balls used in SL over past 40 years always been Kookaburra?

Still processing yesterday and a pretty topsy-turvy summer. But left The Oval feeling very proud of the skill and spirit SL showed across 3 Tests. They opened a lot of eyes with their performances. A few reflections from me…

@ESPNcricinfo @afidelf Great article. Will it make a difference to the powers-that-be? England got more than they deserved over the series. Andrew, I have a historical question: have the red balls used in SL over past 40 years always been Kookaburra?

Sri Lanka's win is a reminder that there is a world of mad new narratives in Tests beyond The Ashes, or the Border-Gavaskar, or the England vs India series @afidelf ✍️ es.pn/3XB4UYc | #ENGvSL

@angusarmstrong8 @CarterPaddy Ah, ok. I was referring to the Friedman piece. And I think it was in fact a link to the original, which was also in the NYT, rather than a reprint. (The commentary was new.)

Friedman’s incredibly influential essay assumed a world of complete competitive markets: most markets are a long way from this idealisation. Arrow’s reply Social Responsibility and Economic Efficiency (‘73) is masterful.

@SpursOfficial “....and when we felt the weakness, we went for the jugular...” If that was his instructions, one of our players took him a bit too literally .... #COYS

@sgelb1 Fair point! Though hence “main” rather than “biggest”. Think there are a few metrics on which that’s true; total vote share, total council seats and geographic range of constituencies. But as you say, Blackford’s constituency is impressively far from London (Ross and Skye!)

Congratulations from the Clarets to one of their own as @jimmy9 takes his 600th Test wicket for @englandcricket – the first pace bowler in the history of the game to reach the landmark. Another Burnley legend 🏏👏

@patdevereaux Very disappointing - we scraped a lucky 6th on the field but near the bottom in the morality league, even though the standard is incredibly low
